Partnership with Parents

Art Gallery

We believe that the education of your child is enhanced when the school, the parent and the child work together in partnership. We provide regular opportunities for you to learn how  your child is performing at school.

We also hold Curriculum Workshops so that you can develop an understanding of the ways in which teaching and learning takes place in various curriculum areas. We would ask that you show your commitment to your child’s education by attending these activities and supporting the Friends of Denton School.

Regular consultation between parent and teacher is an important aspect of the partnership. There will be opportunities to discuss your child’s progress at parent/teacher meetings each term. You are given the opportunity in the summer term to discuss your child’s written annual report.  In addition we are always willing to make appointments to see parents to monitor progress between these meetings, if required.

We welcome the involvement of parents and friends of the school in a variety of school activities. If you would like to be involved in any way, please contact the Headteacher.

You can find support and information regarding your child and special educational needs on the Local Offer website.

The Friends of Denton School meet regularly and provide fantastic support for the school. You can help raise funds when you shop online at no charge to yourself using Easyfundraising . Your support is always appreciated!

There is a useful document about children's development from birth to age 4 which you may find interesting:

School Uniform

We ask that children wear school uniform, including those children in Nursery. Logoed items can be purchased from The Schoolwear Shop in Abington Square or through their online store.

We ask parents to equip their children with the necessary uniform and school equipment, so that they are able to participate fully in all school activities. If a parent is in financial difficulties, and this results in a child not having the correct uniform or not having adequate equipment, our school will do all it can to support the parent. We ask parents not to send their child to school with ‘extreme’ hairstyles or the sort of appearance that is likely to cause them to draw attention to themselves. We ask parents to discuss any issues relating to their child’s appearance if this is influenced by religious belief.

On grounds of health and safety we do not allow children to wear jewellery in our school. The exception to this rule is earring studs in pierced ears. We ask that children either remove these for PE and games or for them to cover them the earrings with a plaster.
