We have only been back for a week but the festive season seems a very long time ago! The children have all settled in really well and seem to be getting used to a full day again (as have the staff!)
We have a very busy, exciting term planned. Our first ‘event’ was last Wednesday when NCC’s online safety officer, Simon Aston came in to work with all the children in Key stage One and Two. Simon then led a very informative evening for parents. Simon came very highly recommended and the children were all very engaged during his session. He then delivered a thought provoking presentation in the evening which has certainly led to a lot of discussion amongst parents and staff alike. I will be sending out a summary of his key points, recommended websites and apps over the next few days.
Friday January 18th is World Religion Day. To celebrate this, we are devoting the whole week to learning about different religions and are delighted that many speakers will be coming to both schools to share their beliefs and practises with the children. This will include representatives from the Hindu, Buddhist, Christian, Jewish and Muslim faiths. We would like to share what we have learnt with you at a special assembly on Wednesday 23rd January at 9.15am. Each class will take one religion and present what they have learnt. We will send a reminder out nearer the time but all are welcome.
On Wednesday 13th February, we are delighted that all of Key Stage 2 will have the opportunity to participate in art activities at Yardley Arts opposite Yardley school. We will be arranging a coach to transport children to and from the workshops. Yardley Arts have very kindly offered to open up on the Thursday morning at 8.30am (until 9.30am) for you to see the work that the children have created. Mrs Gibson and I will be on hand to provide coffees and refreshments! We are more than happy for families to arrive at Denton slightly late for school that morning to allow you the opportunity to have a look at the art work. We held very similar art event and sharing session with Yardley children in Key Stage Two last term which was hugely successful, so are delighted to be able to offer the same to the Denton children.
