Summer Term Update

This term is flying by and we have all been incredibly busy. So far, all the Key Stage 2 children have taken part in a Quidditch session, which certainly offered a different sporting challenge! All the Year One and Two children have been on a trip to Mead Open Farm and all the Reception and Nursery children have enjoyed a day of African drumming and dance.

SATs tests have taken place for Year Six. The children have worked hard this year and were well prepared for the tests. We did not wish any children to feel stressed or anxious about these and only asked that they try their best. Sheena Tanna-Shah, our mindfulness coach, has done a great job talking to any children who may have had some anxieties. We ensured that we started each day as calmly as possible and planned many relaxed sessions in the afternoons.

Next week, it is our trip to St Ives, which we are very much looking forward to, whilst hoping for good weather! For those children who are not coming with us, we will ensure they have a lovely week!

I would also like to update you about the fantastic support you gave the recent Aviva bid promoted by FoDs. As you are no doubt aware, we were successful in this and have already used the funds to support the sensory circuits that happen each morning. We are now looking to redevelop the circus tent into a sensory area. Thanks again for all your support and for those who worked very hard to promote it.

As you can see, there is a lot happening in school at the moment and, as you know, I welcome your views and feedback. As such, I will be holding another ‘Coffee, Cake and Catch up’; everyone is welcome.

A little further ahead next term, as part of our Design and Technology curriculum, each year group will be running cafés; the children will be sourcing, preparing, and costing the food themselves. We ran these a few years ago and they were very successful. Each key stage will take a turn and you will shortly receive an invitation; all are welcome, the more the merrier! They will all take place in the hall from 2pm and the dates are as follows:

Years 5 and 6: Tuesday 4th June

Years 3 and 4: Thursday 6th June

Reception, Year 1 and 2: Friday 7th June
